January 2015 Members’ Exclusive
Now that you’ve settled into the new year, I want to show you some tools to help you get the most out of LinkedIn in 2015.
1. Commercial use search limits (4:52)
At the start of 2015, LinkedIn changed how search results work. They expanded the results to include third-degree connections, which is a positive change. But, they also imposed some limits on searching for non-commercial accounts. LinkedIn hasn’t published many details about these limits, but I want to flag this change for you so you can know that this is happening.
You can also read LinkedIn’s official description of the change in searching, although as I said, there aren’t many details available yet.
2. Account upgrade options (6:26)
With the new year, LinkedIn has also repriced their premium account options. If you have a paid account, or if you have been thinking about upgrading to a paid account, this video will walk you through the options that are currently available.
3. Getting LinkedIn help (3:50)
In this video, I’m going to give away one of my secrets. When people write to me with questions about LinkedIn, one of the main resources that I refer to is LinkedIn’s Help Center. Not only do they have a searchable database of questions and answers, but they also have an option to ask questions and send in screenshots in order to get help. I strongly recommend adding this tool to your library of LinkedIn resources!
4. LinkedIn learning webinars (3:20)
LinkedIn has a number of webinars available to help you learn how to take advantage of their features. Although not as in-depth as material from LinkedIn professionals like myself or some of the other resources I’ve shown you, these learning webinars are valuable if you want to build up your foundational skills.
If you are looking to get some additional exposure to LinkedIn’s core features, and to hear about some of the new things that LinkedIn is rolling out, it’s worth taking a look at these webinars. These webinars are also very helpful if you have friends, family, or colleagues that need to get started with LinkedIn and you want to point them in the right direction.
