Hola-
This weeks tips will relate more to how you are using Linkedin to develop new business or be more effective in your efforts than in specific techniques or tools from Linkedin. I thought that it is time to begin to go past technique to strategies that I have used or heard about in the marketplace now that many of you have the tool itself “humming”. This is really the reason we are all spending time and take this thing from “cool/interesting/innovative” to PRODUCTIVE!
Profile Tips– Are you printing or at least viewing the profile of the person you are going into a meeting with for the first time or each time early in a relationship or potential relationship? This is such a powerful tool to know something about the person before you meet them. Remember they decided what information they wanted to include in their profile so they have decided what they want YOU to know about them. Think about all the opportunities you may have to do this outside of just the meeting with a potential client like:
-Networking Events (Before or after)
-Committee or Board Members
-People you meet at your church, synagogue, clubs, etc.
-Interviewing candidates for jobs
-The person who is about to interview you
Connection Tips– When was the last time you looked at the connections of some of your “more active-most connected” #1 connections to see if you should connect with anyone or get an introduction from that person. Remember if they have lots of connections they tend to want to help connect people especially through Linkedin.
Wildcard Tip or Question– Here is a great website/blog that I found for you Jobseekers. “Job Seekers’ Guide to Resume Databases; Twelve Resume Posting Truths: by Pam Dixon. Check it out at: http://www.pamdixon.com/resumedatabaseguide.htm
