Welcome Back:
I hope you are planning to attend one my upcoming beginning or intermediate LinkedIn seminars. I know you will find them very helpful, and the networking with other individuals interested in or already using LinkedIn will be an additional benefit. Dates and times are listed on my schedule below. Hope to see you there.
Profile Tips
Have you checked out the application Company Buzz? I started using it recently and found it to be very cool, especially if you are not on Twitter. Here is what it can do for you based on the definition found in the Applications section of LinkedIn:
“Every second thousands of people are sending out messages about topics and companies through Twitter. Company Buzz lets you tap into this information flow to find relevant trends and comments about your company. Install the application and instantly see what people are saying.
Customize: Modify the topics and add new ones to watch
Historical Data: See historical charts to track buzz over time
Trends: Get the top words associated with your topic and quickly drill into see related tweets”
You can choose this application to be right on your home page and keep track of the info. I have it telling me if anyone tweets about M&M or office furniture in the Milwaukee area. Pretty neat!
Connection Tips
If you want people to know you’ve been viewing their profile, go to Settings and click Profile Views and change the default to “Show my name and headline.” That way when your network views “Who’s viewed my profile” on their home page, you won’t appear as “Someone,” but your name and headline will appear. Why not be sure your network knows it is you who has been “knockin’ on the door”! They are “your network” after all. Whenever your name and headline show up in your network, there is always that chance for an “ah ha” moment when they want to really connect the old- fashioned way and see what is going on!
Wildcard Tip or Question
I found a free resource for job seekers on the profile of Andrew Brandt. It is an actual ebook called “The Job Seeker’s Guide to Online Networking and Using LinkedIn.”
You order by the following steps from his profile: “Send email to me at andybrandt531@yahoo.com with ‘Guide Request LI’ in the subject line. Introduce yourself in the body of the message. You will receive a PDF file of approximately 3 MB attached to the email response. This is a great resource for you or anyone you know who is in job-seeking mode.
